On Monday morning, a man from Chesapeake, who had already been given a 36-year federal prison sentence, admitted to 16 counts of sexually abusing a child.
Jonathan Wilson came clean about having sexual relations with a minor beginning when she was two years old. The sexual activities to which Wilson pled guilty on Monday were already grounds for his conviction in federal court for the creation of materials pertaining to child sexual abuse.
Of the sixteen felony charges to which Wilson pled guilty, three were with sodomy and two with rape involving victims younger than thirteen years old. Additional charges include aggravated sexual battery and engaging in sexually explicit behavior with a minor.
The child was just two years old when the assault began and persisted for another two.
“This monster should never walk on the streets again,” the victim’s mother said in a statement to 10 On Your Side. “He does not belong in our society.”
Authorities estimate that Wilson used over a thousand images and films depicting child sexual abuse as evidence of his crimes.
“He’s a cold and calculated predator who targeted a completely defenseless child,” her mother said. “His actions are unforgivable and will carry deep emotional and psychological long-term consequences on my child.”
In federal court last year, Wilson admitted to making child porn and is currently serving a 36-year sentence. He is now facing 145 years in prison plus five life sentences after pleading guilty in Chesapeake Circuit Court today.
At his residence on Eden Way North in Greenbrier, Wilson was apprehended in January 2022.
Two counts of sexual offenses perpetrated against minors and one count of producing material glorifying child sex abuse have now been handed down to Wilson.
In the eyes of the victim’s mother, the conviction marks a significant turning point in a long and difficult road.
