Authorities have charged two individuals with the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl in Creston.
Isabel Pettit and Dennis Simmerman are confronting a series of serious allegations, including sexual abuse. Court documents reveal that Pettit permitted Simmerman to exploit the girl, being aware of his status as a sex offender.
Pettit and Simmerman are scheduled to face the court next week.
A report from the Creston Police Department indicates that Pettit engaged in inappropriate behavior on several occasions, involving unwanted physical contact with the minor or allowing the minor to touch her inappropriately. She was involved in inappropriate conduct with the minor on four distinct occasions.
In 2017, Simmerman faced allegations of child abuse in Clarke County. The charges were dismissed when the county attorney did not appear for the scheduled plea hearing.
Documents reveal that Simmerman faced charges for the identical offense once more a year later.
In 2019, Simmerman admitted to one charge of luring a minor. After receiving a 10-year prison sentence, he was granted parole in 2021. In February 2022, he breached the sex offender registry and was sentenced to two years of probation.
Allen was taken to the Union County Jail and later released after posting a bond of $2,000. Pettit has been taken to the Adams County Jail, where she remains in custody with a cash-only bond set at $13,000. Simmerman has been taken to the Union County Jail, where he remains in custody without bond until his first court appearance.
