On Thursday, musician Sean Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, was arrested in Southern California on a warrant from Florida for fraud and theft charges. He was arrested after his home in South Florida was searched earlier in the day. His mother was also arrested.
Kingston was arrested in Fort Irwin, California, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. He will be put into jail in San Bernardino, which is about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
Kingston’s mother was arrested earlier Thursday on fraud charges at the artist’s home in Southwest Ranches, which is in Broward County and is 22 miles northwest of Miami.
Court records from February 2024 show that the Jamaican-American musician lives on that land. The house is owned by a limited liability company, according to information from the county.
It all started in Dania Beach with an investigation. Deputies from the BSO’s Dania Beach District, the Strategic Investigations Unit, and Davie Police SWAT served arrest and search warrants at the home.
Because of this, Kingston’s 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner, was arrested on multiple fraud and theft charges. The probe is still going on.
Kingston is accused of not paying VER VER Entertainment for a $150,000 entertainment system that included a 232-inch TV while he was renting the house. The complaint says Kingston got the company to agree to a lower down payment and credit towards the purchase by telling them he would work with Justin Bieber to make promotional videos for the business.
A warrant for his arrest for big theft was issued in 2020 after it was said that he got jewelry but never paid for it. Kingston has been filled with jewelers over the years. Several times, he’s been sued for getting things and then not paying for them.
TMZ says Kingston got into a fight at the Penthouse Nightclub & Dayclub in Los Angeles in 2016 and was robbed of a $300,000 chain.
Kingston’s boat went off the edge of a bridge in Miami Beach in 2011. He was hurt very badly, and so was a female traveler. He was taken to the hospital in very bad shape. As he was getting better, doctors found that he had torn his artery and had to have heart surgery.
