14-year-old became Victim of Human Trafficking; Couple Trafficked Numerous Girls for 20 Dollars; Arrested by Cops

Police in Anderson County say that a couple is being charged with selling a 14-year-old girl.

The sheriff’s office says that James Wilson and April Lawrence would use the child as money to get strangers to give them money. When the teen called, they drove him across county lines to the home of a 67-year-old guy in Greenville County.

Police said the man would give the couple $20 every time they brought the girl over. The authorities searched the couple’s Cash App and found that they had made about $1,300 in one month.

Wilson and Lawrence were both charged with selling people and were not allowed to post bond.

The sheriff’s office said that William Barendsen, another suspect, took advantage of the couple’s offer and was charged with having sexual contact with a child.
