Captain Tsubasa (Kyaputen Tsubasa in Japanese) is a hugely popular sports anime television series based on a hugely popular manga series. The manga series, written and illustrated by Yoichi Takahashi, began serialization in the Weekly Shnen Jump magazine in 1981 and ran for seven years, with the final chapter published on April 26, 1988. The manga series’ popularity did not end there; numerous manga sequels followed in the aftermath of the original series, and the entire franchise is said to have sold over 80 million copies worldwide!
Unsurprisingly, anime studios quickly picked up the show for an anime series, and the first anime adaptation was produced by Tsuchida Production in 1983. Following the original anime adaptation, numerous other anime adaptations and anime films followed, as did the manga series.

David Production produced the most recent anime adaptation of the show, which premiered on April 3, 2018. This adaptation, like its predecessors, was a huge success with both franchise fans and new viewers. Fans have been eagerly awaiting news on a second season of the show since the end of Season 1. Here’s everything we know so far about Season 2’s prospects.
Captain Tsubasa Season 2 Release Date: When will it premiere?
Season 1 of Captain Tsubasa, consisting of 52 episodes, premiered on April 3, 2018, just a few months before the start of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Season 1 lasted a year, with the season finale airing on April 2, 2019. Despite the fact that only a few months have passed, fans are already clamoring for a second season of the reboot. A second season, however, has yet to be announced.
That being said, there’s no need to panic if you’re hoping for a second season of the show. Because anime shows can take years to renew, David Production has plenty of time to announce a second season. Furthermore, given the sheer number of manga series that the original Captain Tsubasa series spawned, there’s no shortage of material for a second season. Given this, it appears that a second season is in the works.
The extent of Season 1’s commercial success, however, will determine whether David Production makes Season 2. Season 2 could be a very likely outcome if Season 1 replicates the success of previous anime adaptations. However, David Production will need time to assess the show’s commercial success, so even if the studio decides to make a second season, the renewal announcement is unlikely to come soon. We’re keeping our ears open for Captain Tsubasa season 2 release date information, and we’ll update this section as soon as we get it.
Captain Tsubasa English Dub
Although this adaptation of Captain Tsubasa was not accompanied by an English version release, an English dub was licensed soon after, which was not surprising given the series’ worldwide popularity. However, as of now, the show’s English dub is not available on any legal streaming sites, and we may have to wait a while before we can watch it online.
