‘Black Sails’ is a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s famous novel Treasure Island. The story of the pirate-centric series unfolds on New Providence Island two decades before the events of the book. It was created by Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine and premiered on Starz on January 25, 2014. After the fourth season ended in 2017, fans wondered if their favorite characters would resume their various quests across the high seas. To put it another way, will the show be renewed for another season? So, here’s everything we know about Season 5 of ‘Black Sails.’

Black Sails Plot- What is it about?
The plot of ‘Black Sails’ takes place roughly 20 years before the events of Treasure Island. It transports us to the Golden Age of Piracy, where we meet Captain Flint and several other pirate crews battling for survival on New Providence Island. ‘Black Sails,’ set in the early 1700s, transports viewers to a time when piracy is viewed as a major threat to all forms of maritime activity. As a result, all civilized nations declare these seafarers to be enemies of humanity. The pirates return to their original doctrine of “war against the world.”
The plot begins with pirates looking for the Spanish treasure galleon Urca de Lima. They find it, but it sinks off the coast of Florida, where it is watched over by Spanish soldiers. The gold is reclaimed and transported to New Providence Island by Jack Rackham and his crew. Later episodes focus on Flint’s origins and the reasons why, despite being a navy officer and a London gentleman in the past, he turned to piracy. The events gradually culminate in a war to determine who will control New Providence — the pirates or the British Empire.

‘Black Sails’ is a gritty, bloody historical drama full of violence, bare skin, and schemes. Several real-life pirates, including Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny, Charles Vane, Blackbeard, Ned Low, and Benjamin Hornigold, are fictionalized. One of Starz’s most successful titles is the blood-soaked series, which features a lot of double-crossing and treasure hunting quests. Its first three seasons averaged around 3.6 million viewers per episode. In addition, the show was broadcast in nearly 200 countries, received 20 award nominations, and won two Emmys in 2014.
Black Sails Season 5 Release Date- When will it premiere?
Season 4 of ‘Black Sails’ premiered on Starz on January 29, 2017 and concluded on April 2, 2017 after ten episodes. In terms of a new season, Starz announced on July 20, 2016, that the fourth season would be the show’s final.
Fans were not surprised by the news because they had known for a long time that it was going to happen. It was obvious even from the story arc. We could see major plot lines being satisfactorily resolved and main characters being killed off near the end. The show gets closer to the events of Treasure Island, with the treasure still intact, new book characters introduced, and references to the novel appearing frequently in the episodes.
Unfortunately, there will be no more ‘Black Sails’ for you. On a more positive note, the season 4 finale does leave room for certain spinoff ideas. Yes, the main characters have happy endings, but the final episode gives us hope that they will go on to have more adventures. For example, near the end, we see real-life pirate Mary Read board the ship to join Jack Rackham and Anne Bonny. As a result, another story centered on Rackham, Bonny, and Read is very likely. As a result, while there is no chance of a fifth season of ‘Black Sails,’ the story may continue in some other form. We will update this section as we learn more.
