Veena Sud wrote and directed the 2018 psychological horror thriller “The Lie”. Mireille Enos, Peter Sarsgaard, and Joey King feature in the adaptation of the 2015 German thriller We Monsters. Under his Blumhouse Television label, Jason Blum acts as a producer.
On September 13, 2018, The Lie had its world debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was later released on October 6, 2020, as the first part of the anthological Welcome to the Blum house film series by Amazon Studios.
Plot of the Movie-
Father who is divorced Jay takes his daughter Kayla to a ballet camp. They come upon Kayla’s friend, Britney, on the side of the road and offer her a ride to the same retreat. Jay hears Kayla cry and finds her sitting alone on a bridge above a river after pulling over to let Britney use the restroom in the woods. Kayla alleges she was the one who pushed Britney down the bridge. Jay searches the region for Britney’s body but finds nothing, assuming she drowned and was swept away. Kayla discovers Britney’s handbag and takes her to her mother, Rebecca, an attorney.
Kayla informs Rebecca at her house that she murdered Britney. Sam, Britney’s father, arrives in quest of his daughter.

Rebecca lies when he requests to speak with Kayla, claiming she is at the doctor. Sam becomes suspicious later on and returns to learn that Rebecca lied, and Kayla is at home. Sam threatens to call the cops after a violent argument with Jay. Jay persuades Rebecca to blame Sam for Britney’s abduction after noticing a bruise on her cheek. She approaches a police colleague, Detective Kenji Tagata, and accuses Sam of assaulting Britney. When Kenji confronts Sam, he denies hurting Britney and says that she has already fled. Kayla tells Kenji that Sam has a violent temper and has previously slapped Britney.
Sam notices Kayla outside Jay’s apartment and attempts to grab her, but she flees into the home as he after her, knocking on the windows and yelling her name. Jay and Rebecca attempt to hide Britney’s phone behind Sam’s house, but he discovers them. Before they escape, Sam informs them that he believes Kayla murdered Britney. Rebecca deliberately drives into Sam as he emerges in front of their car. Before letting him bleed to death and dumping his body in the road, Jay and Rebecca ponder phoning for aid.

Sam notices Kayla outside Jay’s apartment and attempts to grab her, but she flees into the home as he after her, knocking on the windows and yelling her name. Jay and Rebecca attempt to hide Britney’s phone behind Sam’s house, but he discovers them. Before they escape, Sam informs them that he believes Kayla murdered Britney. Rebecca deliberately drives into Sam as he emerges in front of their car. Before letting him bleed to death and dumping his body in the road, Jay and Rebecca ponder phoning for aid.
The next morning, while Jay and Rebecca clean Sam’s blood from her car, Britney emerges, alive and well, and asks to speak with Kayla.
The film closes on two cliffhangers, the first of which never reveals what happened to Kayla and her parents. It is also never stated whether or not Sam abused Britney. Kayla told the cops this while knowing all along that Britney was alive and thriving.

Mireille Enos as Rebecca Marston-
Mireille Enos was born Marie Mireille Enos in Kansas City, Missouri on September 22, 1975. Her French mother, Monique (a French teacher), died in 2019, and her American father, Jon, died in 2020. Enos has four siblings, sisters Ginger and Veronique and brothers Raphael and Jongiorgi, all of whom are artists.
Mireille’s family relocated to Texas, when she was five years old, residing in Houston. She attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in acting from Brigham Young University in 1997. Enos received the Irene Ryan Award as a college student at the 1996 Kennedy Center American College Film Festival.
Jay Logan is played by Peter Sarsgaard-
Sarsgaard made his cinematic debut as a murdered adolescent in Tim Robbins’ renowned thriller “Dead Man Walking” in 1995. Three years later, he participated in the action movie “The Man in the Iron Mask,” as well as the indie films “Desert Blue” and “Another Day in Paradise.“
