Two children were sexually abused by a former employee of Pawnee City Public Schools, and that individual will now serve time in prison.
Kandice Johnson, who is 36 years old, was found guilty of sexual assault and sexual abuse by a school employee. She was sentenced to six to twelve years in jail.
Between the months of February and March 2023, the paraprofessional allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with two minors, as stated in the court records. According to the records filed in the court, one of the youngsters may have been between the ages of 12 and 16 at the time of the assault.
In addition, she is accused of committing sexual assault of a kid in the first degree as well as child abuse for the incidents that she is said to have done against a second child. In the documents filed with the court, it is stated that Johnson exposed a youngster who was between the ages of 12 and 16 to sexual penetration between the months of February and March.
The child was allegedly subjected to sexual exploitation through sex trafficking of a minor, or by allowing, encouraging, or forcing such a minor child to engage in debauchery, public indecency, or obscene or pornographic photography, films, or depictions as reported by 1011Now News.
Johnson is accused of causing the child to be placed in a situation that put their life, physical health, or mental health in jeopardy; or Johnson is accused of causing the child to be abused.
Johnson was terminated from her position at Pawnee City Public Schools the moment she was taken into custody. When the school got the reports, they promptly told law authorities that the unlawful contact and interactions took place off campus. The school stated that they immediately informed law enforcement.
