A woman from Alabama pleaded guilty right before her trial was set to begin. She had orchestrated a deceptive plan, luring her target into a fake date and convincing him to be blindfolded and handcuffed. Shockingly, she then allowed another man to brutally stab him 19 times.
A judge in Geneva County has handed down a 10-year prison sentence to Shalyn Diaz. This comes after she pleaded guilty to attempted murder in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in January, according to prosecutors.
The Geneva County Sheriff’s Office reported that Diaz reached out to the victim through Facebook Messenger on January 6th to arrange a date for the following day. The plan was to drive around the area in her car. She arrived at his Dothan apartment around 7 p.m. to give him a ride.
Little did the victim know, there was a man named Robert Hall concealed in the trunk.
After some time on the road, Diaz decided to stop the car and asked the victim to move to the back seat, where they were instructed to wear handcuffs and a blindfold. Once the victim complied, Hall discreetly exited the trunk and made his way to the backseat.
According to deputies, Hall allegedly used a cord to choke the victim and stabbed him. According to deputies, the victim was forcefully pulled out of the car by Hall and subsequently stabbed multiple times. The victim was stabbed a total of 19 times.
Hall and Diaz quickly fled the scene in the car, leaving the victim behind, gravely injured, on the side of the road. Fortunately, a vigilant driver noticed the victim, who was still wearing handcuffs with a cord around his neck, and quickly called for assistance. The victim survived as per Law&Crime.
Hall and Diaz were apprehended by law enforcement shortly after the incident, and in April, they were formally charged with attempted murder and kidnapping by a grand jury. Hall was found guilty of attempted murder on June 12 and received a life sentence from the judge.
