A toxicology report that was just recently made public reveals that illegal narcotics were discovered in the system of a baby who was 13 months old and passed away in Appling in February.
On February 29, the road patrol and investigative division of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to 2410 Jordan Drive in Appling, where they discovered an infant who had passed away at the age of thirteen months.
A toxicology result for the infant was made public on May 14 by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The report revealed that the infant had illegal substances in its system, including fentanyl and xylazine.
As well as confirming that the drugs were the cause of death, the toxicologist from the GBI and the medical examiner both stated that the amount of drugs was more than sufficient to kill the newborn.
Further inquiry was conducted into the house and the people who lived there when the baby was discovered.
Deangela Belton and Mitra Ellzey are both wanted for murder in the second degree, according to the sheriff’s office, which has confirmed that the warrant has been issued.
