Bayonetta 3 is the third installment of Hideki Kamiya‘s action and adventure game series, developed by PlatinumGames. It continues the events and gameplay of Bayonetta 2 while also introducing many additional secrets to solve.
The initial Bayonetta installment was released on the PlayStation 3 as well as Xbox 360, then the sequel Bayonetta 2 was launched on the Wii U. There was a re-release on Nintendo Switch, as well as an upgraded port for Microsoft Windows with 4K capability. A new version of Bayonetta was published for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to commemorate the cult classic’s tenth anniversary.
Bayonetta 3 has managed to go under the radar after being introduced with a teaser trailer during the 2017 Game Awards. Apart from Platinum announcing, Bayonetta 3 is still in development earlier this year, the title has received no further updates till now.
The program closed with our first look at Bayonetta 3’s beautiful gameplay during Nintendo’s September Direct. Everything we know about Bayonetta 3 is listed below.
Bayonetta 3: When Is the Game Series Releasing?
Bayonetta 3 is rumored to get a release later this year. Since the game was revealed, PlatinumGames has been working on a lot of projects, so it’s no surprise that the game has waited so long to return. PlatinumGames is collaborating with Square Enix on Babylon’s Fall and it will also self-publish Project G.G., a mysterious new game directed by Hideki Kamiya.
Moreover, Astral Chain was launched in 2019 and most likely took a long time to develop. Bayonetta 3 will only be in the part of Nintendo Switch when it is launched.

In an interview with VGC, Kamiya scoffed about the game’s release schedule, saying “My recommendation is that we all go back to square one and forget about Bayonetta 3. Then, when something happens, it’ll be a pleasant surprise, won’t it?”
Atsushi Inaba, PlatinumGames’ studio head, assures supporters that “there’s no reason to be concerned.” “It’s not our decision what to say and when to say it,” series creator Hideki Kamiya remarked. Further game revelations appear to be completely out of his control.
Since September, there seems to be no announcement on Bayonetta 3, but with the game due to release this year, we’re expecting to see it in a Nintendo Direct shortly. The sequel of Breath of the Wild was just postponed until Spring of 2023, so now we’re assuming that Bayonetta 3 stays on track of releasing in 2022, so the Nintendo Switch doesn’t go without a game this year.
Bayonetta 3 will still be released in 2022, according to a recent Nintendo earnings report.
Bayonetta 3: What’s the Gameplay in the New Installment?
Bayonetta 3 will follow in the footsteps of its predecessors, providing a fast-paced action adventure with plenty of flair and style. New features will almost certainly be added due to the game’s extended development cycle. According to the latest video, the new edition will include enormous conflicts amongst massive animals.
Bayonetta can command a Kaiju-like monster to defend herself against a foe of equivalent scale, which should provide for some exciting and unforgettable moments. Bayonetta has always been wild and outrageous, but the new entry appears to elevate the bar, especially in terms of scale, which we’re looking forward to.
Large locations to explore, fluid action gameplay and a bizarre tale that seeks to engage its fan base may all be expected. Bayonetta 3 will almost certainly keep the combination system, as well as multiple power-ups, weapons, and accessories.
Bayonetta 3 will still be a linear core progression action game, but new features and mechanics will be added, according to PlatinumGames co-founder Atsushi Inaba in an interview with Eurogamer. Because Platinum understands that “fans desire crazier, better, tighter action games,” this game will almost certainly evolve.
With the original Wii U release, Bayonetta 2 had an intriguing co-op multiplayer component dubbed Tag Climax, which allowed players to team up to destroy groups of opponents. Such a feature was transferred over to the Switch edition and became one of the most popular features of the whole package. In light of this, there is precedent for a multiplayer feature to be included in Bayonetta 3, though nothing can be confirmed, until an official announcement.
Free DLC outfits based on Link from The Legend of Zelda, Princess Peach from Super Mario, Princess Daisy from Super Mario, Fox McCloud from Star Fox, and Samus Aran from Metroid were included in Bayonetta 2. Because Bayonetta 3 will be published by Nintendo, the heroine may be able to wear a similar set of outfits.
Additional substantial DLC, such as new plot elements or levels, is unlikely, given PlatinumGames’ track record of releasing major expansions after launch. There are a few outliers, like Nier: Automata and Metal Gear Rising, but in general, Bayonetta 3 will not have big DLC. Unfortunately, no information about DLC has been confirmed, so we can’t be certain.
Bayonetta 3: On What Platforms Is the Game Available?
Regardless of the fact that the first game received a lot of praise when it was launched on the Xbox 360 and PS3, Nintendo decided to publish the sequel when it came out on the Wii U in 2014. In 2018, both games were converted to the Nintendo Switch, making it an ideal platform for bringing the bite-sized bouts with you.

Nintendo paid for the development of these games and is well renowned for protecting its intellectual property. While this allowed The Wonderful 101 to be released on other systems, it was a unique situation, and PlatinumGames had to work with Nintendo to make it happen. Because Bayonetta is such a valuable IP for Nintendo, we doubt it will ever allow the games to be released on other systems.
