Lubbock, TX- According to court documents, new information has emerged following the arrest of Encarncion Castro, 18, who is now facing charges of child abuse.
According to jail records, Castro was arrested on July 30 in the 4400 block of Idalou Road.
In May, law enforcement was summoned to a local hospital due to concerns of child abuse, according to court documents. Based on court records, it was reported that a young boy suffered a burn on his arm that extended from his wrist to his elbow.
According to court records, the boy’s arm was wrapped in toilet paper and he had not been given any medical treatment for the burn. According to court documents, the burn occurred on May 25 and the hospital visit took place on May 30.
According to Castro, the child accidentally fell into the bathtub while the water was still running. Based on court records, Castro claimed that his arm was exposed to the running water for a minute, resulting in his injury.

According to court records, a doctor and child abuse specialist expressed concerns in a report that the child may have been a victim of physical abuse.
Castro has been accused of committing two counts of child injury and one count of child endangerment. As of Monday morning, she is still being held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a combined bond of $150,000.
