Florida Deputy Fired Amid Arrest on Child Abuse and Neglect Allegations

Escambia County, FL- After being detained on Saturday night, a deputy from Escambia County was terminated from his position.

This is the list of charges that Christopher Turney, age 40, was booked into the Escambia County Jail for:

  • child cruelty
  • child neglect
  • contributing to the delinquency of a minor – parent failed to require school attendance

WEAR News received confirmation from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office on Monday that Turney has been fired from his position as a deputy.

In exchange for a bond of $17,000, he was freed from jail on Sunday afternoon.

Regarding the investigation, no additional information was disclosed.

The mugshot of Turney was designated as exempt in the records of the Escambia County Jail.
