A guy was caught and convicted of four counts of sexual assault on a kid under the age of 14 in Washoe County. He ran away to Mexico after jumping bail and staying there for three years. The charges were brought against him in Washoe County.
William Guerra, who was 40 years old at the time, was found guilty by a jury when a girl who was 15 years old disclosed to a social worker that she had been sexually abused by him on many occasions when she was between the ages of nine and 14 years old.
After being taken into custody by Reno Police, Guerra admitted to attacking the woman and stated that the assaults ceased when she pulled a knife on him, as stated in a press release issued by the District Attorney’s Office for Washoe County.
According to the District Attorney’s office, Guerra posted a bond and was able to escape to Mexico after his detention. The family of the victim tracked him and lived down the street from him for three years before he attempted to illegally re-enter the United States, which ultimately led to his arrest.
Immediately after Guerra was re-arrested, investigators from the District Attorney’s Office of Washoe County located and made contact with the victim, who was now an adult and was located in Mexico.
The victim was brought back to Reno for the trial as reported by 2News.
