A tragic incident occurred on Interstate 65 in Autauga County, resulting in the loss of a young life. According to authorities, a multi-vehicle crash took place on Friday afternoon, claiming the life of a teenager from Tennessee.
A 13-year-old sustained critical injuries in a collision involving two vehicles. The teenager was a passenger in a 2016 Toyota Rav4, which collided head-on with a 2016 Infiniti Q50 driven by Evann A. Jones, 39, from Augusta, Georgia. This information was provided by Sgt. Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Ashley B. Moore, 26, from La Follette, Tennessee, was behind the wheel of the Toyota. Following the first collision, the Infiniti was subsequently hit by a 2008 Cadillac DTS driven by Dennis F. Wells, 76, of Athens. Following the collision with the Cadillac, the Infiniti proceeded to collide with a 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck driven by Ramiro B. Garcia, 54, from Ardian, Michigan.
A crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 65, close to mile marker 189, approximately eight miles north of Prattville. The northbound lanes remained closed for several hours.
A 13-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital, where they unfortunately passed away, according to Burkett. The name or gender of the teen was not disclosed by him as per Montgomery Advertiser.
A 14-year-old passenger in a 2016 Toyota Rav4 sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.
Moore and Jones sustained injuries and were taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for medical care.
