GRAPEVINE, TX – A former teacher from the Lewisville Independent School District (ISD) has been arrested on charges of having an improper relationship with a student and sexually assaulting a child, according to the Grapevine Police Department.
The teacher, identified as Alainee Simonson, was taken into custody on Friday and later released on a $25,000 bond, as per Tarrant County court records. Grapevine police said the alleged crimes occurred during Simonson’s tenure with Lewisville ISD in 2022 and 2023.
District Responds to Allegations
In response to the arrest, Lewisville ISD issued a statement detailing the timeline of their involvement in the case. The district noted that it had investigated reports of “concerning behavior by the teacher” in collaboration with law enforcement and Child Protective Services (CPS). However, the investigations at the time did not find sufficient evidence to confirm an inappropriate relationship between Simonson and a student.
Following the reports, Simonson was placed on administrative leave. She resigned from her position in February 2023. Simonson had joined Killough High School as a teacher in August 2022.
Ongoing Investigation
The Grapevine Police Department emphasized that the investigation is still active. Authorities stated that, based on current information, they do not believe there are other victims. However, they encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Community Concerns
News of Simonson’s arrest has sparked concerns among parents and community members regarding student safety and teacher conduct within the district. Lewisville ISD assured the public that it takes allegations of misconduct seriously and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a safe environment for all students.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and thorough investigations when allegations involving student safety arise. Grapevine police continue to seek information and maintain that the protection of students remains their top priority.
Legal Proceedings Ahead
As the case unfolds, Simonson faces serious charges that highlight the gravity of improper relationships between educators and students. The legal process will determine the outcomes of the allegations.
For now, the Grapevine Police Department urges the public to report any additional information that could aid in the investigation. The district has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding students and fostering a secure learning environment.
