SWAT Deployed in Kentucky Following Alleged Hostage and Death Threats

A man from Northern Kentucky reportedly barricaded himself in his home for several hours after allegedly holding a woman hostage at gunpoint.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening around 9:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the 2400 block of Winter Woods Court in Hebron.

Authorities responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a 30-year-old man named Richard T. Kelly was detaining a woman against her wishes following a confrontation regarding his alcohol consumption. Kelly proceeded to arm himself and issued a menacing threat, warning the victim against any attempt to leave the premises.

After several unsuccessful attempts to escape the residence, the individual resorted to covertly recording Kelly. Recordings have surfaced in which Kelly can be heard making disturbing threats towards the woman and her family.

The woman successfully fled the residence and reached the officers who had arrived at the scene.

Kelly stayed inside the residence for several hours while law enforcement officers tried to persuade him to exit.

Despite multiple attempts, the officers were unable to achieve success. However, they were eventually able to obtain a search warrant for the home and an arrest warrant for Kelly. In the early hours of the morning, Kelly exited the residence and followed the instructions given by the SWAT team.

He faces charges of third-degree terroristic threatening, menacing, and first-degree unlawful imprisonment. He is currently being detained on a cash bond of $50,000.
