Spirit Chronicles Season 2: Haruto and Rio Are Coming Back to the Isekai Anime With Some More Spirit Adventures and Special Powers!

We like the concept of being taken into another wonderful world where factories are replaced by fortresses and boring planes are replaced by deadly dragons.

With successful anime series like Re-Zero and KonoSuba, the isekai genre has seen a surge in popularity among viewers. However, with the sudden growth in the number of isekai productions, upcoming anime series in the category may find it tough to stand themselves. But, it’s not the case with Spirit Chronicles

Yuri Kitayama wrote and illustrated Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles, a Japanese light novel series. This was serialized on the user-generated novel publishing platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō between February 2014 and October 2020. Hobby Japan later bought it and has been publishing the series itself under the HJ Bunko banner since October 2015.

By the time the very first season of Spirit Chronicles comes to an end, it’s safe to say that there will be more questions to be answered. But, thanks to the upcoming second season, we’ll have another opportunity to capture some explanations. Here’s all we knew regarding  Spirit Chronicles Season 2 thus far.

On November 5, 2021, the anime’s official Twitter account confirmed that a season 2 was already in the pipeline. To commemorate the news, the tweet included a special Season 1 recap video clip. This did not, though, arrive with an official release.

The Spirit Chronicles season 2, according to director Osamu Yamasaki, may need “a bit longer” to premiere. As per previous release plans, Season 1 was announced in November 2020 and then launched in July 2021. So, through this, we can predict that Season 2 will release in either July or October of 2022.

Spirit Chronicles Season 2: What Will Be the Storyline of the Anime?

Spirit Chronicles season 2

Haruto Amakawa is a young person who died before he can even see his childhood friend, who had gone missing five years prior. Rio is a little kid from the Bertram Kingdom‘s slums that seeks vengeance for his mother, who has been killed in front of his eyes when he was just five years old. Earth and a different world,  Two individuals from very different backgrounds and even with quite distinct ideals.

Haruto, who really should have perished, is revived in Rio’s body for whatever cause. Rio vows to dwell in this new world while the two are perplexed by their experiences and identities melting altogether. Rio unlocks a “special power” alongside Haruto’s memories, and it appears that only if he uses it wisely, he will be able to live a better life.

The first season of Spirit Chronicles focuses primarily on Rio’s life and also how he copes with the realization that he is tied to Haruto. Rio prevents his companion Celia‘s arranged marriage inside the Season 1 conclusion.

He soon learns that additional people from his planet have indeed been reincarnated in Haruto’s. With just this background, it was a reasonable guess that Season 2’s storyline will reveal more about Rio’s connection to Haruto.

Season 2 might also explore why Rio has grown so powerful since understanding his connection to Haruto. It is almost certain that whenever it came to the original light novels, the storyline of Spirit Chronicles Season 2 does have a ton of stuff to pull on.

Haruto Amakawa and Rio, both voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, are the protagonists of the anime. Haruto is a Japanese young guy who perishes in a horrible traffic accident. Elsewhere, Rio is just a young fellow in fantasy land who becomes an orphan after his mother gets brutally murdered. Then there’s Celia Claire, who was Rio’s instructor and only companion at Bertram Royal Academy and is portrayed by Akane Fujita.

She trained him how to write and read numbers on his very first day of school. In her laboratory, the two spent a lot of time together. Rio gradually grew on her and she fell in love with him.

Spirit Chronicles Season 2 will very probably highlight the main individuals as they try to solve their unique problems. Rio’s instructor Celia Claire plus his contracted spirit Aishia, who is an upper high-class spirit, is voiced by Yūki Kuwahara and is likely to reappear in the series.

Viewers, on the other hand, will be hoping to see another key character reappear. Rio meets Haruto’s former friend Miharu Ayase, portrayed by Sayaka Harada, who also was summoned from modern-day Japan near season end 1. Miharu was extremely important to Haruto, thus we may expect her to play a key role in the upcoming season.
