On Saturday, authorities in North Kansas City, Missouri, reported that a shooting outside a high school basketball game left at least two individuals gravely wounded.
North Kansas City High School was the site of gunshots “at the conclusion” of the game, according to a statement from the city that CBS News obtained. Included in the greater Kansas City area is the neighborhood known as North Kansas City.
The school’s football field was the site of a crime scene with one victim, according to the city, which led two deputies from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to respond. The cops were providing game-day security.
The city then revealed that there was a second casualty of the incident, who was a minor. They were both taken in critical condition to nearby hospitals. Upgrading the youngster to serious condition was a subsequent procedure.
The North Kansas City Schools system informed families and workers that a shooting had taken place outside the stadium.
The shooting was thought to have taken place “outside the school by the fieldhouse,” according to North Kansas City police Sgt. Christopher Kimmel, who informed reporters at a news briefing on Saturday night.
Tragically, a shooting occurred at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade less than three weeks ago. There was a fatality and 22 injuries, including numerous children, in the shooting that occurred on February 14. Two people are now facing murder charges.
