An employee of the Point Isabel Independent School District entered a not-guilty plea on Wednesday following the filing of fresh child sex allegations. During school hours, he is accused of soliciting a juvenile, according to the records filed in court.
In February, Omar Vera was taken into custody on suspicion of providing dangerous content to a youthful individual.
A new set of messages that were allegedly sent and received between the student and Vera were recently disclosed in an indictment.
The following are the charges against Vera:
- One count of child grooming
- Four counts of online solicitation (explicit communication) of a minor
- Three counts of online solicitation (explicit material) of a minor during school hours
- One count of online solicitation (explicit communication) of a minor/student during school hours
- One count of online solicitation (for sexual conduct) of a minor/student during school hours
- One count of online solicitation (explicit communication) of a minor
From one of the messages, it can be seen that Vera remarked, “There are times when I want you so badly, but I am aware that I have all these restrictions about me.”
An additional statement is included in the indictment, which reads as follows: “I want to remind you that ever since that day in the room, I have officially become your owner.” “I have the right to use and abuse your body in any way that I see fit.”
A third message is included in the indictment, which alleges that Vera made plans to meet the student after school and asked the victim, “Hey, nerd… want to make some extra credit.” This was done before Vera made the plans to see the kid as reported by Valley Central.
It is also stated in the paper that Vera transmitted pornographic images to the youngsters when they were attending school. The indictment included several further graphic texts that Vera is said to have sent to the undergraduate student.
Vera is still being held in custody in Cameron County, with a bond of $180,000. His trial is slated to take place in September, and he has entered a plea of not guilty to the new allegations.
Vera is no longer employed with the district, according to a spokesman for the organization.
