A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Torrance, Calif., where a family dog fatally bit a one-month-old baby, as reported by the Torrance Police Department.
On Tuesday at around 12:34 p.m., authorities were alerted to an incident involving an animal bite at a home located on Martha Avenue in Torrance, situated 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
The Torrance Fire Department arrived at the scene to find that the family dog had bitten a one-month-old baby.
The child was transported to the hospital by the fire department. Authorities arrived at the medical facility and engaged with the parents, discovering that the newborn had passed away. The identity of the infant remains undisclosed by Torrance police.
The investigation into the child’s cause of death is underway by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
Authorities revisited the residence for additional inquiries. The local animal control authorities arrived at the location and took custody of the dog. The specific breed of the dog remains undisclosed.
