A young man of 18 showed no visible emotion during his court appearance in Kentucky on Wednesday, following accusations of violently assaulting his 74-year-old grandmother with his fists and a metal drinking tumbler. The attack resulted in severe head trauma, leading to the victim’s death at a hospital shortly after.
On Tuesday afternoon, Wyatt Testerman from Independence was taken into custody outside a home on Ridgewood Drive following a reported altercation among family members that escalated into fatal domestic violence. The Erlanger Police Department reported that Cheri Oliver was found in her home suffering from head trauma and was transported to Cincinnati’s University Hospital, where her injuries were deemed life-threatening.
Sadly, Oliver has passed away.
The grandson of the victim has been charged with murder and is currently held at the Kenton County Detention Center, facing a bond set at $500,000. Prior to discovering the bond amount, Fox affiliate WXIX reported that Testerman displayed no visible emotions while the judge indicated that he could face a potential life sentence if convicted of the charges against him.
Testerman, wearing pink jail attire, appeared expressionless as the judge allegedly assigned him a public defender.
Authorities have not disclosed the details surrounding the “dispute” that allegedly led to the murder, but WDKY has reported that the suspect confessed to law enforcement that he assaulted the victim multiple times with a “metal drinking tumbler” and his fists.
According to the report, witnesses of the incident claimed that Testerman “suddenly turned aggressive without any clear cause.”
