North Carolina Attorney Arrested for alleged Physical Assault that left Victim with Bloodied and severely Scratched Face

Charlotte, NC: A North Carolina attorney was arrested by the authorities after she physically assaulted a woman. She is also accused of faking a seizure during the police custody.

Monday just before noon, officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were dispatched to the law office of Mary Leazer Rogers, 53. The incident prompted the call for assistance. The authorities discovered a woman with a bloodied and scratched face upon their arrival.

The victim stated in the arrest affidavit of Rogers that she was accused of engaging in a personal relationship with a client who had visited the office earlier that day. According to the affidavit, the victim informed officers that Rogers desires to “have a sexual relationship” with her, but she has rejected his advances. As soon as Rogers allegedly began “arguing with the victim and cursing at the victim,” the alleged assault occurred.

According to the victim, the suspect struck her in the face five times as reported by Law and Crime.

Officers subsequently arrested Rogers. Reportedly, while escorting Rogers to the patrol vehicle, the officer struck him in the leg with her foot. Then, she spat in the face of another officer, according to the affidavit. Additionally, she reclined in the patrol vehicle and declined to stand. Officers attempted to sit her up, but she allegedly resisted and collapsed to the ground from the patrol vehicle.

“At this time, the suspect was yelling and cursing, which caused a commotion as numerous individuals emerged from their workplaces to observe the situation,” officers documented.

Officers transported her to the hospital on the suspicion that she was experiencing a seizure. She allegedly informed hospital personnel upon her arrival that she was, in fact, feigning it. Officers assert that she also spat on a medical professional.

She was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail by law enforcement officers and her court appearance is scheduled for May 7.
