Dallas, TX: Rashee Rice, an NFL hero, has issued an apology for his involvement in a hit-and-run collision that resulted in two injuries on Saturday.
“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities,” he indicated on Wednesday.
Two speeding vehicles, a Lamborghini and a Corvette, according to Dallas, Texas police, initiated “a chain reaction collision” that damaged four additional vehicles.
The drivers of the Lamborghini and Corvette reportedly fled the scene, according to the police. Dallas police issued the following statement to the BBC: “The occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette fled the scene without stopping to determine whether anyone required medical assistance or providing their information.”
Rashee Rice, a 23-year-old wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, stated in a brief Instagram post on Wednesday that he had met with Dallas investigators earlier in the day.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident,” he stated further.
His attorney, Royce West, told ESPN on Monday: “He extends his condolences to all those affected by the car accident that occurred on Saturday on behalf of Rashee Rice.
“Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly.”
On Monday, the Dallas Morning News reported, citing unnamed officials, that the wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs had registered or leased the Corvette.
It appears that dashcam footage from another vehicle captured the exact instant of the collision. The video depicts two vehicles surpassing the driver’s speed limit, losing control, and colliding with multiple additional vehicles, which subsequently derail themselves on the highway.
Citing the ongoing investigation, Dallas police refused to confirm to the BBC whether the American football player was among those involved in the collision.
Mark Donovan, president of the Kansas City Chiefs, stated in a radio interview with the local station KCMO on Monday: “In these kinds of circumstances, one must exercise patience until they have all the facts, and to be candid, we do not have all the facts at this time.
“We’ll get to the bottom of it, we’ll gather the facts and we’ll react accordingly,” according to him.
Two drivers sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene; two others were transported to a nearby hospital.

“No one stopped,” Kayla Quinn told the Dallas Morning News after claiming her vehicle was damaged in the collision.
A personal injury attorney who is representing an accident victim, Marc Lenahan, told the BBC that his firm’s investigation establishes a connection between the Corvette and Rashee Rice, and the Lamborghini with a nearby luxury car rental service.
Last year, the Dallas-area native Mr. Rice was selected by the NFL, and in February, he participated in the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl victory.
