It has been discovered that the mother of two small children in New Jersey is responsible for their deaths, and the children were found to have drowned.
According to a press statement issued by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, local law enforcement officers in Lakewood responded to a call about two toddlers who were experiencing cardiac arrest on the afternoon of June 25. The provision of aid that could have saved lives at the spot was unsuccessful.
Prosecutors stated in a press release that both of the children, who were three and one years old, were pronounced dead at the scene.
After it was confirmed that the one-year-old child had been stabbed and that both children, who were not identified by the prosecutor’s office, had drowned, Naomi Elkins, who is 27 years old and the mother of the two children, was detained and charged with murder, according to the release.
The Ocean County Jail is where Elkins is currently being held, according to the prosecutors. Both unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose are additional charges that have been brought against her.
There is a lack of clarity on whether or not Elkins has entered a plea or procured legal representation according to PEOPLE.
