It was early on Monday morning when the police say a man stabbed his mother to death while she was sleeping.
According to Raymond Santiago, the prosecutor for Monmouth County, Robert Parody, 25, walked into his mother’s room inside their home on Porter Road in Howell a little after midnight and stabbed Loretta Parody, 61, in the chest.
Almost immediately, the police located and detained Parody.
Parody was charged with murder in the first degree as well as a weapons felony relating to the crime. In anticipation of a hearing about his detention, he is currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.
Santiago did not reveal the reason for the stabbing, nor did he reveal whether or if there was anyone else there in the house.
