A mother from Ohio has pleaded guilty to the tragic murder of her 3-year-old son, which could result in a life sentence.
Timmeka Eggleton, 31, has pleaded guilty to murder, felonious assault, and endangering children in connection with the tragic death of her son Curtis.
In a recent court filing, records from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office reveal that on June 14, 2023, Eggleton was at a store with Curtis when he was discovered unresponsive in his stroller. Unfortunately, he passed away after being transported to a nearby hospital.
WKYC reported that the Medical Examiner’s office has determined the cause of death to be a homicide. They concluded that Curtis sustained severe blunt force trauma to his body, ruling out the possibility of accidental injury.
According to reports, Eggleton was apprehended five days after the incident, specifically on June 19.
According to a report from sister station Fox8, Curtis was placed in the care of a foster family shortly after he was born. After spending 2 1/2 years with the family who had eagerly anticipated adopting him, he was ultimately returned to his biological mother in March of 2023.
Curtis tragically lost his life a mere four months later.
The foster parents, who requested anonymity, expressed their deep sorrow, stating, “Our hearts ache for the loss of our beloved son.” “He brought immense happiness.”
As reported by People, Eggleton’s sentencing is set for July 22 as reported by WTRF News.
In a statement to People, Michael C. O’Malley, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, expressed that the conviction marked a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice for Curtis.
