An investigation into allegations of sexual assault has led to the charging of a man from Hartville and a woman from Monett.
According to investigators, Randy Brown confessed to having sex with an autistic woman. Three counts of sexual abuse and one case of sodomy have been brought against him. The victim’s relationship with Brown is alleged to have been enabled by Amy Mattlage. She faces accusations of sexual abuse and trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
On July 1, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office contacted a detective about a sexual assault investigation involving incidences in Hartville. Investigators from the Monett Police Department were contacted by the detective the following day.
Brown and Mattlage were both listed as wanted in relation to sexual assault charges in Lawrence County, according to a search of a police database.
Results showed that the sexual attacks occurred in Hartville on May 25 and Monett on May 24.
Arrested on July 2 were Brown and Mattlage. The couple’s marriage was revealed in the probable cause statement just days prior to their arrest. Lawrence County Jail holds both of them.
