A Waterford Township man was recently arraigned for disturbing allegations involving the sexual abuse of four boys and the possession of explicit videos and photos on his phone.
A 21-year-old man named Logan Joseph Sutherland was arrested by Waterford police detectives at his home on Tuesday. The arrest was made in response to a complaint of criminal sexual conduct involving a 10-year-old boy. The police press release was issued on Friday.
According to authorities, Sutherland had numerous encounters with the boy over a span of two years.
During the arrest, detectives discovered explicit images and videos of underage individuals on Sutherland’s phone, as stated in the release.Sutherland has been arraigned on multiple charges related to criminal sexual conduct and possession of child sexually abusive material. The arraignment took place at the 51st District Court, as stated in the release.
The bond set by District Court Judge Richard Kuhn is $100,000, which must be paid in cash or surety only. The probable cause hearing is scheduled for Sept. 10. An unnamed public defender is listed as representing Sutherland in the online court records.
Three additional individuals have come forward following Sutherland’s arrest, making allegations of assault that occurred in various locations, including his residence, a Waterford ZapZone arcade and Sportway go kart course, and a Commerce Township SkyZone, according to the police.
According to the release, the victims were aged 7, 11, and 13. According to the release, Sutherland is accused of gaining the trust of the boys’ parents and spending time alone with them, during which he allegedly sexually assaulted the children. Alongside the four victims, the photos on Sutherland’s phone depicted several young boys whose identities remain unknown to the police.
