A lady was found dead in Newport News early on Monday morning following what is believed to have been a domestic assault.
A press release issued by the Newport News Police Department (NNPD) stated that around 2:25 in the morning, police were dispatched to a property located in the 1000 block of 75th Street in response to a report of a female who was not responding to their surroundings.
When they entered the house, they discovered a woman who was not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the site by the medical personnel.
Emma Carolina Lopez Navarre, who is 36 years old, has been identified as the woman’s identity. She was allegedly involved in a domestic assault with a male who was familiar to her, according to the police.
According to the press announcement, Javier Hernandez-Orellana, who happened to be 47 years old, was brought into custody at the scene without any incident. Additionally, he is being charged with homicide in the second degree.
“Chief Drew would like to thank the officers for their quick response and diligent work on this case throughout the morning,” the press release stated.
The police have not disclosed the reason for the woman’s passing, although they have stated that it was not a shooting.
The revelation of any additional information has not occurred.
