Memphis Toddler Hospitalized in Critical Condition Following Apartment Window Fall, Police Probe Incident

Memphis, TN: Local police say that a three-year-old boy is barely alive after he fell from a second-story apartment window in Frayser.

Yesterday afternoon, the terrible accident happened at the Corning Village Apartments, which are located off of Steele Street. The toddler was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and is in serious condition there.

Memphis police have been working hard to figure out what happened with the fall. While inside the house with her 1-year-old daughter, the child’s mother heard screams and saw her son on the ground.

Police said she thought “he must have climbed through the upstairs window and accidentally fell from the second story and hit the ground,” as FOX13 Memphis reported. The kid probably climbed out of his twin-sized bed next to the window, which caused him to fall.

When first rescuers got to the scene on Briercrest Lane, they saw the child lying face down.

People in the community and the police are still trying to figure out how the upsetting event that happened in the late afternoon could have happened.

Based on the most recent information from police, the child’s health has since shown signs of getting better. Still, the seriousness of the child’s injuries has led to more neighborhood support and a greater focus on window safety in residential areas. Officers will stay at the apartment complex to find out all the things that led to the fall while the probe goes on.
