A 25-year-old man has been apprehended in relation to the disturbing child sexual assault that has caused fear in New York City’s Queens neighborhood for several days and deeply affected residents across the city, according to authorities on Tuesday.
A man, known as Christian Inga, was apprehended by the police near 108th and Waldron Street, which is in close proximity to the park where authorities claim he attacked two 13-year-olds. According to officials, he allegedly coerced them into a wooded area at knifepoint, bound them, and proceeded to sexually assault the girl.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny revealed during a press conference on Tuesday that he arrived in the United States from Ecuador via Eagle Pass, Texas, on June 25, 2021. Residents of a rooming house identified him as the person depicted in the wanted posters circulated by the NYPD.
Flores claims to have restrained Inga by placing him in a headlock and securing his legs with a belt. According to a bodega worker who was present at the time, the man did not deny the sexual assault allegations, as confirmed by his statement.

Kenny also mentioned that Inga had chosen not to exercise his Miranda rights and had acknowledged having a drug problem. Additionally, he mentioned discovering the knife involved in the reported assault and stated that it was his first time engaging in such behavior.
Inga, a father of two, is facing a multitude of serious charges including rape, robbery, sexual assault, kidnapping, endangering child welfare, and more as reported by NBC News.
Several top-ranking NYPD officials made a public plea on Friday, urging the community to assist in identifying a tattooed individual who allegedly coerced the students into the nearby woods. A $10,000 reward was offered for any information that could lead to an arrest.
