A man has been convicted by a Los Angeles jury for orchestrating a plot in which he sent his 17-year-old son to harm rapper PnB Rock.
Freddie Trone, 42, has been convicted of several charges, including murder, two counts of second-degree robbery, and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery. These charges stem from the tragic shooting death of a Philadelphia hip-hop star in September 2022.
A rapper was dining at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, who is the mother of his four-year-old child, when an armed individual entered the establishment wearing a ski mask. The assailant demanded the artist’s jewelry and proceeded to fire shots.
According to local media, the teenager allegedly took items from the victim and quickly escaped in a getaway car, with Trone being accused of driving the vehicle.
PnB sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased at a nearby hospital within an hour.
The prosecution contended that the teenager was carrying out his father’s instructions, while Trone’s defense team maintained that he was merely involved in the crimes after the fact.

According to local media, the teenager, who is now 19 years old, has been arrested on murder and robbery charges in the case. However, it has been reported that he has not yet been found competent to stand trial.
Tremont Jones has been charged and found guilty on multiple counts related to robbery.
Jones and Trone are set to be sentenced on August 27th as reported by BBC.
According to Fox 11 in Los Angeles, Deputy District Attorney Timothy Richardson informed the jurors during Trone’s trial that Trone had driven his son in a “coordinated act” to steal valuable jewelry. Richardson argued that the motive behind the act was the theft of jewelry worth approximately half a million dollars.
According to reports, prosecutors revealed that Jones spotted the rapper at the restaurant and shared details with Trone about the jewelry the artist was wearing.
Trone’s defense team maintained that he was not present during the incident and denied giving any instructions to his son or anyone else. According to Fox 11, the attorney argued that the prosecutors had wrongly focused on an individual and suggested that racial factors influenced the conviction.
