A Kentucky man is currently facing multiple charges in federal court for allegedly robbing several convenience stores in Lexington and Frankfort within a single day.
According to court documents, Maurice Curry is facing charges of five counts of Hobbs Act robbery and four counts of possession of a firearm during a violent crime. The Hobbs Act, as stated by the Department of Justice, prohibits acts of robbery or extortion that impact interstate or foreign commerce, regardless of the extent or manner in which they occur.
In the indictment returned on March 21, Curry is accused of committing robberies at multiple convenience stores.
According to court documents, on Sept. 10, 2023, Curry entered Lex Liquor and a Speedway gas station on Tates Creek and held the clerks at gunpoint.

Later that same day, Curry reportedly entered three Frankfort stores — Katz Food Mart, Walgreens, and a Shell gas station — and allegedly forced them to hand over their products.
According to court documents, Curry allegedly engaged in actions that hindered commerce and unlawfully restrained clerks by using threats of force, and violence, and instilling fear of harm.
If convicted, Curry could potentially face a maximum of 27 years in prison, fines of up to $500,000, and eight years of supervised release. There is no set date for his court appearance at this time.
