Laken Riley Killer wants Jury Trail; says will not forgo my Rights

Athens, GA:  Jose Ibara has requested a jury trial in the death of a 22-year-old nursing student who was murdered on the campus of the University of Georgia last month.

On February 22, Laken Riley’s lifeless body was discovered beaten to death on the campus of UGA.

Charges of murder led to the arrest of 26-year-old Jose Ibarra the following day. Ibarra is a native of Venezuela. Arrested on grounds of being in the country illegally, his two siblings were also taken into custody. They are both under the hands of the federal government. The Clarke County Jail in Athens is now housing Ibarra.

Ibarra has refused to renounce his rights and his attorney has requested a jury trial, according to court documents.

False imprisonment, kidnapping, aggravated assault, felony murder, aggravated battery, concealing the death of another, and impeding a 911 call are among the charges against Ibarra.

According to the results of the autopsy, Riley’s cause of death was a blow to the head.
