High-Profile DC Drug Dealer Now Based in Nashville Following Prison Release

A notorious criminal from Washington, D.C. has recently been released from prison after serving a lengthy sentence of over 35 years. Currently, he is residing in a residential reentry center under the management of RRM Nashville, as reported by NBC affiliate WRC.

A 59-year-old man named Rayful Edmond was transferred to a facility in the Nashville area on Wednesday, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Nashville office manages operations in Tennessee and Kentucky.

As reported by WRC, the prison release was unexpected. Last week, a judge in Pennsylvania rejected Edmond’s plea for compassionate release, while two weeks ago, a D.C. District Court Judge turned down a request for a further sentence reduction.

In 1990, Edmond was convicted for his involvement in a cocaine ring that allegedly generated millions of dollars and contributed to a significant increase in the murder rate, earning D.C. the reputation as the “murder capital” of the nation, as reported by WRC.

According to WRC, Edmond was released from custody after he decided to assist the government as an informant. This came about when the FBI discovered his involvement in significant drug transactions with a Columbian cartel while he was serving time in a federal prison in Pennsylvania. In 1994, WRC made a sudden change and began providing information.

According to WRC, Edmond played a crucial role in assisting the authorities by providing valuable information that resulted in the convictions of over 100 individuals after two decades.

Due to his assistance, his mother, Constance “Bootsie” Perry, was also released from prison after being sentenced to 14 years for her involvement in her son’s operation.
