Georgia Man Handed down 2 Decades in Prison after Guilty Plea in Child Molestation Case

The sentence of twenty years in prison without the possibility of parole was handed down to a man who had previously entered a guilty plea to the charge of child molestation.

Two counts of child molestation, rape, two counts of aggravated child molestation, and two counts of aggravated sexual battery were the charges that Mendez Mariojorge Galindo, who is 44 years old, pleaded guilty to.

When the mother of the victim filed a claim of child abuse on June 20, 2022, the Cobb County police department immediately began their investigation.

The young lady, who was under the age of 16, stated that Galindo had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions between the dates of August 1, 2019, and June 10, 2022.

It was her sister who initially informed her, who then informed her mother, who then notified the authorities.

Immediately after the girl was taken to the hospital, she was referred to the Safepath Children’s Advocacy Center for further treatment.

A forensic interview and a physical examination were both performed on her at that location. According to the findings of the investigation, Galindo was the individual who sexually assaulted her.

The arrest of him took place on June 13th, 2022.

Earlier than the scheduled start of the trial, on May 13, 2024, Galindo entered a guilty plea to all of the allegations against him.

“We commend the bravery of the victim and her family for coming forward and seeking justice. Our office remains steadfast in our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community,” Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady Jr. said.

Following a term of twenty years in prison without the possibility of parole, he was given a life sentence on probation.
