Georgia Man Arrested from Parents’ Home after Tip Informed Deputies of Child Sexual Exploitation: Authorities

Newnan, GA- A Newnan resident has been taken into custody following a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that was shared with local law enforcement.

A 23-year-old individual named Travion Smith has been taken into custody and is now being held at the Coweta County Jail. The charges against Smith are related to child sexual exploitation and are considered to be a felony.

An investigator from the Coweta County sheriff’s office, specializing in Internet Crimes Against Children, initiated an investigation into Smith following a tip received from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

On July 17, authorities apprehended him at his parents’ residence in Coweta County. According to the sheriff’s office, Smith was employed at a nearby pool supply company.

The investigator reported that Smith was found to have a video containing disturbing content involving minors.

Authorities have taken possession of Smith’s electronic devices and will conduct a thorough examination of them. According to their findings, they have indicated that there may be a possibility of filing additional charges against him.
