According to the authorities, a young kid who was five years old passed away after being left in a hot car for around seven hours in Omaha, Nebraska.
Approximately five minutes after five o’clock on Wednesday, the youngster was discovered lifeless outside of a beauty salon where his foster mother works, as reported by the Omaha police department.
The five-year-old boy was sent to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the police.
According to the announcement made by the police on Thursday, his foster mother, Juanita Pinon, who is forty years old and lives in Omaha, was taken into custody and charged with child abuse by neglect that resulted in death.
“The suspect did not provide a statement to declare whether it was an accident or intentional,” said Chris Gordon, a spokesperson for the police department, in an interview with ABC News.
During the course of Wednesday, the temperature in Omaha reached a high of 89 degrees. As of the beginning of this year, at least ten children have been killed in hot cars across the United States, according to KidsAndCars.org, a nationwide nonprofit organization.
KidsAndCars.org discovered that there have been at least 1,094 deaths of children in hot cars since the year 1990.
