Florida Sheriff Candidate’s Daughter Sentenced to Two Years for Child Abuse and Drug Possession

A sentence of two years in jail has been handed down to the daughter of a candidate for the position of sheriff of Dixie County. The allegations against her include child abuse and drug possession.

Sara Ridgeway, 43, was taken into custody by deputies more than a year ago after according to them, they discovered her unconscious in her vehicle as a result of heroin use. Also present in the vehicle was a little child.

In the race for sheriff in Dixie County, Ridgeway Herring is the daughter of Julie Herring, who is currently competing for the position as reported by WCJB News.

Crimes against children have been dramatically rising. This rise has been fueled by drug abuse and financial constraints. Recently, a couple have been arrested by police in Ohio. The authorities arrested the man and the woman because they adopted five kids and then abused them so severely. The authorities arrested the pair when they found the kids locked in a shed in their residence.
