A sheriff’s deputy in the Florida Keys was arrested by her employer on multiple computer crime charges on Wednesday, according to officials.
A deputy from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Jennifer Ann Ketcham, 40, has been charged with 19 felony counts related to the misuse of law enforcement computers, computer networks, and electronic devices. This information was shared by MCSO spokesperson Adam Linhardt in a brief news release on Wednesday afternoon.
“Ketcham misused law enforcement databases by accessing information for personal reasons that were outside the boundaries of her job as a Deputy,” Linhardt explained.
Authorities did not provide further details regarding the allegations. Local 10 News has made a request for a copy of her arrest documents.
According to Linhardt, Ketcham, who was hired on June 2, 2021, has been placed on administrative leave without pay while an internal investigation takes place. Additionally, her bond has been set at $1.9 million.
“I am dedicated to ensuring that the community stays updated on important events happening within this agency, whether they are positive or negative,” stated Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay in a news release on Wednesday.
According to jail records Ketcham, a resident of Cudjoe Key, was apprehended at MCSO’s Marathon substation on Overseas Highway and placed in custody shortly before 3:45 p.m.
As of Wednesday afternoon, she still hadn’t been assigned a jail facility.
