A city in Florida, Pompano Beach is a part of the Miami metropolitan area. With more than 100,000 people living there, it is well known for its stunning beaches, excellent fishing, and exciting events.
It’s crucial to remember, though, that some Pompano Beach districts have a bad reputation for being violent and crime-ridden, making them dangerous for both locals and tourists.
Here are five of Pompano Beach’s most dangerous neighborhoods, as determined by my study and the city’s crime rate per 100,000 residents.
1. Collier City
Collier City is a neighborhood near the intersection of West Atlantic Boulevard and Northwest 31st Avenue in the northwest region of the city. There are about 9,000 people living there, most of them are African Americans from low-income families.
Collier City has a violent crime rate of 2,238 offenses per 100,000 residents, according to NeighborhoodScout. Compared to the Pompano Beach average, this rate is 462% higher, and it is 560% more than the national average.
The three most common violent crime types in this area are murder, robbery, and assault. Furthermore, Collier municipal has an impressive property crime rate of 7,753 crimes per 100,000 residents, above both the municipal and national averages by 112% and 200%, respectively. Theft, car theft, and burglary are the three most frequent property crimes in this area.
2. Kendall Green
Kendall Green is a neighborhood near the intersection of Northeast 48th Street and North Dixie Highway in the northeastern region of the city. There are about 4,000 people living there, most of whom are white, low-income citizens.
With 1,874 violent offenses per 100,000 residents, Kendall Green has a high rate of violent crime, according to NeighborhoodScout. This rate is 470% greater than the national average and 387% higher than the Pompano Beach average. The most frequent violent crime categories in this region are rape, assault, and robbery.
Kendall Green not only has a high prevalence of violent crime, but it also has a high rate of property offenses. At 7,539 offenses per 100,000 residents, the area’s property crime rate is 109% higher than the city average and 197% more than the national average. Theft, burglary, and auto theft are the three most common property crimes in Kendall Green that are recorded.
3. Cresthaven
Nestled near the intersection of Northeast 14th Street Causeway and North Federal Highway, in the eastern area of the city, is the community known as Cresthaven. There are roughly 11,000 people living there, most of whom are Hispanic and White.
Cresthaven has a high rate of violent crime, with 1,737 reported crimes per 100,000 residents, according to NeighborhoodScout. This number is 436% greater than the national average and 359% higher than the Pompano Beach average.
The three violent crimes that happen here the most frequently are murder, robbery, and assault. Furthermore, Cresthaven sees a high rate of property crimes, with 7,403 offenses for every 100,000 residents. This exceeds both the national average by 195% and the city average by 107%. Theft, motor vehicle theft, and burglary are Cresthaven’s most common property crimes.
4. The Sanders Park
Sanders Park is located near the intersection of West Copans Road and Northwest Sixth Avenue in the southern side of the city. There are about 3,000 people living there, most of them are low-income African Americans.
With 1,701 violent offenses per 100,000 residents, Sanders Park has a high rate of violent crime, according to NeighborhoodScout. This number is 427% greater than the national average and 351% higher than the Pompano Beach average.
Robbery, assault, and rape are the three violent crime types that are most commonly recorded in this area. Furthermore, the serious property crime rate in Sanders Park is 7,296 crimes per 100,000 residents, which is 193% higher than the national average and 106% higher than the city average. Theft, burglary, and motor vehicle theft are among the often occurring property crimes in this region.
5. Boulevard Park Isles
Boulevard Park Isles is a neighborhood in the western side of the city, near the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue and West McNab Road. With 2,000 or so residents, white people and Hispanic people make up the majority.
Boulevard Park Isles has a high rate of violent crime, with 1,665 offenses per 100,000 residents, according to NeighborhoodScout. This number is 418% greater than the national average and 344% higher than the Pompano Beach average.
Assault, robbery, and murder are the violent crimes in this area that are most commonly reported. Furthermore, Boulevard Park Isles has 7,189 property offenses for every 100,000 residents, which is a high rate of property crime.
Compared to the national average, this rate is 191% higher and 104% higher than the municipal average. Theft, car theft, and burglary are the most often reported property crimes in this neighborhood.
In summary
Pompano Beach has a lot of options and attractions, but it also has a lot of risks and hazards. Some neighborhoods should be avoided or at least approached with caution due to increased incidence of violence and crime.
Based on available statistics and sources, the five neighborhoods described above are considered to be among the most dangerous in the city. However, this does not mean that other communities promise total safety or that there is no potential in these locations.
There may be endeavors and programs in place to improve security and the general standard of living, and there may be respectable people and organizations involved. It is therefore essential to do independent research and use good judgment before entering or staying in any Pompano Beach neighborhood.
