Day Care Worker Had 1200 Videos and Photos of Little Girls engaging in Sexual Activities with a Man: Minnesota Authorities

A daycare worker in the Twin Cities is alleged to have taken inappropriate photographs of the young children under his supervision.

On Wednesday, charges were filed against Eric Allen, 39, for possessing explicit material on his computer and phone.

Allen was employed at Mount Carmel Child Care Center located in northeast Minneapolis. The daycare center is affiliated with Mount Carmel Lutheran Church. The pastor at that location claims they fired the individual upon being notified of his arrest. The church provided no further statement.

According to court documents, Allen confessed to possessing images of girls from the daycare on his phone and provided names to investigators.

An investigation was initiated after receiving a tip in April of last year regarding a cell phone that contained material related to child sexual abuse.

After two months, investigators were able to track down the phone’s user, Allen, thanks to a subpoena.

The Minneapolis Police Department was assigned the case in December of 2023.

One month later, the MPD notified the state that it lacked the necessary resources and expertise to handle investigations related to criminal sexual assault of minors, citing staffing challenges.

In March 2024, authorities conducted a state investigation that resulted in the issuance of a search warrant for Allen’s phone. During the search, disturbing videos depicting abuse were discovered. The images depicted underage girls engaging in sexual activities with one another and an adult male.

In August, authorities executed a search warrant at Allen’s residence as reported by CBS News.

He confessed that his phone number and computer were linked to disturbing content involving children.

During the investigation, Allen disclosed the presence of pictures of girls from daycare on his phone. Additionally, he acknowledged his interest in young girls.

Investigators discovered a substantial collection of 1,200 photos and videos on Allen’s phone, which is currently undergoing analysis for evidentiary purposes.

State crime agents are currently engaged in the process of identifying the victims and informing their parents.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has confirmed that the childcare center is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Further charges may be brought forward as the investigation progresses.

Allan was taken into custody and later released. Given the seriousness of this offense, the state has issued a warrant for his arrest.
