Cops discover Rotten Body of a Woman in Man’s Bedroom in Oklahoma; Incident sends Shockwaves in the Community

A guy from Healdton is being accused of destroying a body. Chickasaw Lighthorse Police said they went to the house on Humble Street on Monday just after noon to make sure everyone was okay.

Elmer Hood, 53, was heard inside the house by police, and they could smell something that smelled like death.

When police from Lighthorse went into the house, they found a dead body in a bedroom. The woman has been named Cynthia Lynn Pace by her family.

The press release says that Hood was arrested by Lighthorse police at the spot.

He was taken to the Carter County Jail on Monday night on original charges of destroying a human body, getting in the way of police, and resisting arrest.

Melanie Handke, the district attorney for Carter County, told News 12 that the only charge that has been brought against Hood so far is the destruction of a human body.

State laws say that this could mean getting rid of a dead body, trying to hide the name of a crime victim, or cutting, disfiguring, or mutilating someone.

Handke said the probe is still going on, so more charges could be coming. He is getting help with the case from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
