Colorado School Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Students; Victims Reported Several Incidents of Molestation: Police

A Fort Collins school teacher is currently facing serious allegations of sexual assault. Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) is urging anyone who may have been affected to come forward with any information they may have.

In April 2024, the staff of Poudre School District (PSD) alerted the police about allegations of inappropriate student contact involving one of their teachers. The teacher in question has been identified as Evan King, born on July 24, 1973.

King works as a teacher and also serves as an assistant track coach at Lincoln Middle School. He has been a teacher at PSD for around 9 years.

The PSD promptly placed King on administrative leave upon receiving the initial allegation, and the School District has been fully cooperative during the investigation. After a thorough four-month investigation, detectives from the FCPS Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPU) have identified two female juvenile victims and several student witnesses as reported by FCGOV News.

Yesterday, there was an arrest, and charges were filed against King. The charges against KIng are:

  • Class 3 Felony – Sexual Assault on a child by one in position of trust (3 Counts)
  • Class 3 Felony – Sexual Assault on a child by one in position of trust – Pattern of sexual abuse (1 Count)

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any further details about this investigation due to the legal protections in place for the juvenile victims involved.

Charges are simply an accusation made by law enforcement, and it is important to remember that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Authorities are expressing concern about the possibility of additional victims or witnesses coming forward regarding incidents of inappropriate touching or comments, similar to those involving King. If you believe you have been a victim or have any information regarding this kind of behavior, please get in touch with Detective Justin Butler at 970.221.6340 or Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970.221.6868.
