California Man Survives after Car Split in Two after Crashing with Pole in Irvine

In a remarkable turn of events, a man from California has emerged unscathed from a harrowing car accident where a traffic pole came dangerously close to severing his vehicle. The accident happened in Irvine, California.

A California man narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation after an incident that almost destroyed his vehicle, as reported by authorities.

In a recent Instagram update, the Irvine Police Department reported that a man was taken to the hospital following a crash involving his vehicle and a traffic signal pole at an intersection shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.

Officials reported that their team, along with partners from the local fire authority, arrived promptly at the scene and successfully extricated the driver from the vehicle. An unidentified man suffered injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“The driver was seriously injured, and our thoughts are with him during his recovery,” IPD said in its post, encouraging anyone with information about what happened to reach out to the department.

The IPD has not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s collision with the pole, nor have they indicated if speed or impairment played a role in the incident.

A photo of the white sports car was released by the department following the incident. The pole seemed to have cleaved the vehicle in two, protruding from the center of the car. The vehicle’s roof was significantly crumpled, and fragments from the front were scattered across the roadway.

Emergency responders were observed behind the vehicle, evaluating the situation and cordoning off the area to prevent any further traffic from entering.

Numerous residents shared their thoughts on IPD’s post, noting that the location of the incident, at the intersection of Modjeska Street and Still Night, is well-known for racing activities.

“Cars race on that street all the way up to [the] 241 entrance,” a person said.

Another said, “The amount of… cars on Irvine Blvd. after 10 p.m. is alarming.”
