Baby Wrapped in Wet Blanket and was Left to Die in front of Air Conditioner; Mother among Three Arrested by Georgia Authorities

Authorities in Georgia have filed murder charges against a mother and two others following the tragic death of a 3-month-old baby. The infant reportedly passed away after being wrapped in a wet blanket and positioned in front of an air conditioner.

According to a case report reviewed by PEOPLE, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Budget Inn hotel on Gordon Highway in response to an “unknown situation” early in the morning on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

According to authorities, infant Josiah Noel Seright was discovered in a car seat next to an air conditioning unit at the hotel, wrapped in a damp blanket.

Reports suggest that the unit was supposedly set to 61 degrees for an unspecified duration while the baby’s mother, September De’asia Seright, 19, and two other adults, Lamisha Diane Seright, 42, and Bennie Antonio Nash, 39, stayed in the room and relaxed on a couch and bed.

The baby was taken to Wellstar MCG Health for treatment and was pronounced dead at 2:37 a.m., according to the case report.

Authorities have reported that the baby’s cause of death was determined to be hypothermia and respiratory failure, although the case is still being investigated.

According to the case report, three adults have been arrested and charged with cruelty to a child in the second degree and murder in the second degree.
