Mesa, AZ: A mother from Mesa, Arizona was charged with aggravated assault following a video recording in which she brutally beat up a school bus driver. She accused the driver of using derogatory remarks about her daughter.
According to the Mesa Police Department, Hermenegilda Marquez, aged 27, was apprehended on April 17 and is being charged with a solitary instance of felony aggravated assault against a school staff member.
Police were dispatched to W. McKellips Road at approximately 2 p.m. on April 11 in response to reports of an assault on a bus driver from Mesa Public Schools.
Upon the arrival of the officers, they engaged in conversation with the victim, who seemed to be experiencing mild injuries.
According to a video disseminated by law enforcement authorities, Marquez is purportedly observed coming onto the bus and vociferously addressing the driver, subsequently directing her gaze towards the rear of the bus and vocalizing her child’s name.
According to authorities, Marquez subsequently redirects her focus towards the driver and persists in using profanity and shouting at the bus driver.
An individual identified by law enforcement as Marquez’s boyfriend interfered and forcibly removed Marquez from the bus.
However, when being extracted from the vehicle, she forcefully seized the bus driver’s hair with both hands and nearly forcefully displaced the driver from her seat, as reported by the police.
According to the authorities, there were 11 school kids remaining on the bus at the time of the assault.
She left from the alleged location and was later apprehended by police.
During the interrogation, the police informed Marquez of her Miranda Rights, prompting her to promptly exercise her entitlement to legal representation.
The police presented Marquez with the footage and then informed her that she would face criminal charges due to her involvement in the recorded attack.
