Here’s what we have so far for the second installment. Season 2 has yet to be officially announced by Starz, but it appears that it is only a matter of time. Aside from the fact that the series has been well received by critics and viewers, there is plenty of room for the storyline to develop. Andrea Bordeaux discussed what she would like to see in the future for her character Ella in a July 2021 interview. This implies that the cast and crew are looking forward to a new season.

Despite the fact that the series was approved in January 2020, filming did not begin until late October 2020. As a result, it is clear that it will take approximately seven months to complete. If the show is renewed by Fall 2021, we can expect ‘Run the World’ season 2 to debut in Spring 2022.
Run the World Season 2 Cast: Who can be in it?
Whitney Green, Ella McFair, Renee Ross, and Sondi Hill are portrayed by Amber Stevens West, Andrea Bordeaux, Bresha Webb, and Corbin Reid, respectively. Tosin Morohunfola (Olabisi “Ola” Adeyemo), Sasha Hutchings (Hope), Stephen Bishop (Matthew Powell), Nick Sagar (Anderson Louis), and Erika Alexander round out the cast (Barb). If there is a second season, most of these cast members are likely to return.
Run the World Season 2 Plot: What can it be About?
Renee’s marriage is on the rocks in season one, while Whitney is prepping for her wedding. Things aren’t looking good for Whitney and her fiancé Ola near the end of the season, as the former admits to being unfaithful in their relationship. Elsewhere, Ella, Sondi, Renee, and Hope are out and about in town for Whitney’s bachelorette party. Ella sneaks away in the final moments of the season to start writing a new book.
If there is a second season, we will find out where Whitney and Ola stand in their relationship. Ella’s decision to start a new book is a big step for her, given that her second book did not receive as much love and recognition as she had hoped. So the potential second season could delve into that aspect of Ella’s life. Ella and Anderson’s relationship could also take a positive turn.
Review-
Make way for the exhilarating and sassy story of four African-American girls who are uber-glamorous, unapologetically career-oriented, and plan to rule the world. And they know how to have a good time! But beneath the pancakes are GRITS — Girls Raised in the South — who ‘have a certain talent and aspiration for life,’ as one of the 30-something leads, Ella McFair (Andrea Bordeaux), puts it. Despite her fierce talent, she is a failed writer who now works at a gossip website and is still hurt about her ex-boyfriend, Anderson (Nick Sagar), abandoning her in the worst phase of her life to pursue his career.

Ella’s entourage includes a prim and proper Whitney (Amber Stevens West), who is dealing with the craziness of her upcoming wedding but realizes she hasn’t lived her life. Renee (Bresha Webb), an animated advertising executive, is about to divorce her husband, Jason (Jay Walker), to begin a new chapter in her life. Sondi (Corbin Reid), a PhD student in African-American studies, dates and looks after her guide, Matthew (Stephen Bishop), and his daughter.
The show follows the feisty foursome, with Whitney slipping up in her long-term relationship with a Nigerian doctor, Ola (Tosin Morohunfola), Ella rediscovering herself as Anderson returns, and Renee finally standing up to her struggling band manager husband. Sondi works hard to prove her worth as a student on her own merits, rather than through the influence of her scholarly advisor boyfriend.
At first glance, Run the World appears to be a glossy show about lost 30-something girls who are constantly getting into misadventures and sexcapades. However, it gradually reveals itself to be a profound and meaningful story. Ella, despite her independence, is unaware of her desire. Renee is not as unaffected by the prospect of divorce as she believes, Whitney wants people to accept her flaws, and Sondi alternates between following her dream and being there for her man and his baby.

The show is an updated version of and a nod to Sex and the City (Ella refers to her boyfriend Anderson as Big, but Sondi reminds her that the famous character was tall, rich, and had a driver), but it has its own vibe and milieu. It contains some irreverent dialogue and writing, as well as frequent and not-so-subtle depictions of racism and feminism. Renee characterizes the American workplace as a “CC and BCC kind of passive-aggressive culture” in which Black people are invisible.
The four girls have such great chemistry that it’s easy to forget they’re only on screen. You’ll quickly notice how distinct yet similar they are. Their wild cocktail-hour banter is raucous and risque, but often touching. The sequence in which they consult a common therapist is easily the highlight, as it reveals their insecurities behind the confident facade and their gripes with each other despite being so close.
All of the characters will captivate you with their performances, including a brief appearance by Sasha Hutchings as Whitney’s maid of honor, Hope, who appears ditzy at first but has depth to her. Hope tells the women that they hit the lottery by being born black and advises them, “Do not let a lack of vision interfere with your walk.” You will see how they maintain their dignity and pride in their race despite being constantly demoralized.
