A 33-year-old guy from Florida was arrested on charges that he kidnapped a woman, beat her up with a weapon, and then left her in the woods.
Law and Crime reported on Thursday, May 16, 2024, that Drew W. Davidson was caught on Friday and charged with kidnapping and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
In the early hours of May 10, police were called to a home on Ivanhoe Drive in Titusville, Florida, which is about 50 miles east of Orlando, because of a report of an assault.
The woman told police that she and Davidson went out for drinks on May 9 and then came back to the Ivanhoe Drive home around 11:30 p.m.
According to the victim, Davidson “gets very aggressive when he drinks.” She also said that they had a fight when they got home, but she couldn’t remember what the argument was about.
Davidson’s anger got worse, according to the police, and he reportedly pushed the victim into the trunk of his red 2012 Jaguar against her will.
He is then said to have driven the victim to a remote place, in this case the Salt Lake Wildlife Management place in Mims, Florida.
The statement says, “When he got there, he took the victim outside and started beating her with a ‘brass knuckle’ knife, which had a blade sticking out of the handle that looked like brass knuckles.”
“The victim was hurt; she had a puncture wound on the back of her neck, as well as swelling and scrapes.”
The woman said she was scared for her life and thought she was going to “die” and not have a mother for her child. The suspect then drove off in the Jaguar, leaving the victim in the woods area.
The victim was left in a rural area. She walked back to her house, got her phone, and at around 2:40 a.m., she called a friend to come get her. Davidson was said to be asleep inside the house when she was picked up, so she didn’t know she had escaped.
The victim showed text messages from Davidson that said he was sorry, including ones that said “I f–ed up” and “I’m so sorry.” The texts also said Davidson was sorry and that he had been angry with the victim because of family problems.
The victim had cuts, scrapes, a swollen face, and a stab wound on the back of her neck that could be seen. Medical staff treated her injuries. Davidson said the texts were only about the fight and that he didn’t mean to hurt the victim physically.
He is currently in jail without bond and is being charged. He also has a warrant out for his arrest for grand theft and insurance fraud, and his court date is May 30.
